2020 was a year full of uncertainty and as a result, there were many cancellations of major events due to the many restrictions imposed to ensure everyone's safety.

Weddings in Covid times

What we know as "normal" life will not return soon but there are reasons to be optimistic and go ahead with the wedding plans that are in place for 2021. Everything points to the fact that without a doubt, the restrictions we will have this season will not be more severe than what we have suffered last fall.

Many couples have had to change their plans and get used to the idea that their wedding will be different from what we are used to. These couples have taken all these challenges and limitations caused by the pandemic as an opportunity that has allowed them to focus on the essentials, transforming this big event into something simple and intimate, but very special.

In Artigot Catering we have been updating as circumstances have developed, the measures to be taken to carry out an event of this type.

Our experience in the industry has given us an advantage over many when it comes to responding in the best way to unforeseen situations, where everything can change at the last moment.

Below, we explain some of the main actions to consider when planning a wedding in times of pandemic.

Space and capacity

One of the most important considerations when planning a COVID wedding is the seating capacity. The capacity is determined by the space chosen by the bride and groom. It is important to take it into account as it will delimit the number of guests, the restrictions indicate that it should not exceed 50% of the capacity of the space.

As for the venue, weddings can be held in both outdoor and indoor spaces as long as a safety distance of 1.5 meters between each guest is guaranteed. In addition, it is important to note that, in principle, it is not allowed to smoke or use any type of vaping device if a distance of 2 meters cannot be maintained, even between smokers.

Cocktail and Open Bar

The cocktail and open bar continue and will continue to be the protagonists of the day. Once the cocktail party begins, guests will be given a small plate with their drink, designed to match the glass that will serve as a support at mealtime.

The waiters will pass the food on trays that are in turn protected inside methacrylate hoods, preventing direct contact with the food by the guests. Since one of the restrictions requires that all guests must be seated at all times, at Artigot Catering, the food is served on trays that are protected inside methacrylate bells, preventing direct contact with the food by the guests. Artigot Catering we offer tables and stools for this occasion. People will have their table but also will have this more informal option.

Tables

The staging of the tables will have a great prominence in COVID weddings, although in these circumstances, the number of guests per table will be reduced and the space between tables will be increased according to regulations.

Our decoration team will always seek to achieve that wow effect with spectacular floral centerpieces that give a special touch to the atmosphere.

The mythical dessert table will be different, this time everything will be served in individual portions.

The Candy bar, a highly coveted table during the free hour, will also come in small packages with a mix of sweets for the night's sweet tooth.

Banquet

The banquet does not have many variants, in fact it is the safest service since the guests are served at all times by waiters who are protected according to regulations.

In times of pandemic, the banquet remains practically the same except for the reduced number of people who can share a table. This number must not exceed 6 people and it is allowed to remove the mask to eat and drink while seated.

Mask use and hand hygiene

Safety and hygiene must always be a priority in these times. That is why the use of masks is mandatory at all times except when consuming beverages or food. Our team has always complied with very strict hygiene protocols, but we reinforce them with the use of Hydroalcoholic Gel and masks at all times.

Our recommendation is to have a small corner where guests are provided with this type of elements (masks and gel) so that they always keep them in mind. It is important to emphasize that all attendees must be responsible and comply with safety measures to ensure a happy wedding.

But as it has always been, when celebrating a COVID wedding, the focus should be on what is truly important: celebrating love and making that day unforgettable and very special, surrounded by the people you love the most.
